Exkursion: Kanuwandern in Nordmarken / Schweden
verantwortlich: Christian Schulz

Canoeing Tour in Sweden / Nordmarken

Once more: Glide on our own! - Distance from everyday university life: close the books, blow your head, feel your body, meet people!

In view of the great demand and consistently positive feedback in the last summers before the pandemic and the re-start last year, the inclusion of this excursion in the USZ summer program is equally imperative: canoeing in Sweden - water gliding between tranquil and challenging.

With access to a complete offer from an external provider, the USZ brings its possibilities as a contact exchange into play: to bring together a group of like-minded people from the circle of the TU Darmstadt, who - so found - then with the support of a Unisport center provided Supervisors / moderators can glide through the lake landscape in the Swedish north of Marche on their own initiative.

"Canoe tour on your own" is also the name of the travel format chosen from the portfolio of the established provider of canoe tours, "scandtrack": a canoe tour in which the travel route and overnight stays (camping) are not determined in advance, but by you, are to be chosen by the participants on site every day if necessary. The only thing that is fixed is the start and end point in Lennartsfors or at the "scandtrack" outdoor camp Höglund at the lake "Foxen". Equipped with comprehensive maps and almost all the material and provisions needed for the journey, navigation, accommodation and food - only clothing, sleeping bag/iso-mat and smaller equipment may have to be brought along - the group finds its way from there through countless, with crystal-clear Water-filled lakes with a total length of about 500 km, connected by small canals or short shore excursions.

Countless secluded, idyllic bays invite you to go ashore, take a break or spend the night, or there are more than 100 specially designed and sustainably maintained canoe rest areas, almost all of which have shelters, fireplaces and dry toilets. The canoe tours can be individually adapted to the physical abilities and/or interests of the group and designed as pure relaxation or a "serious" challenge - depending on the wind and weather. As with the itinerary and overnight stays, catering is also arranged independently using the provisions package handed over at the start of the trip, which is sufficient for the entire travel time and which also contains hot food to be prepared at the campfire or with a camping stove (included in the equipment package).

(It is possible to book a "vegetarian catering package". Such a package is only available as a unit for 2 people. There are additional costs of 15 euros per person, which are to be paid individually on site. Ordering a "vegetarian catering package " must be done via the Unisport Center - or via my person, Christian Schulz, as the contact person for scandtrack. If you are interested / need, please contact me by Fri. July 07th, 2023 at the latest.)
