Excursion: Paragliding Vogesen / France
Finally we can fly again - paragliding!
The sports excursion takes us to the French Vosges, where we acquire the "L license" in a 5-day course at the renowned, German-speaking Pappus flight school - as the first step towards self-organized, independent flying!
The course is aimed at beginners. No specific prior experience or knowledge is required. At the end of the training you will be able to take off independently in different conditions on the practice slope, fly small turns and land safely.
The training, which is mainly filled with intensive practical training, takes place five to eight hours a day. This usually starts early in the morning, takes a break during the thermally restless midday, then it's back to the practice slope - sometimes until sunset. After imparting knowledge about the material as well as setting up and dismantling the aircraft, the first exercises on the program are on almost flat terrain, then an individually adapted increase in height and length of the practice flights. In addition, there are theory units on meteorology, technology and material, behavior in special cases, air law, and much more, which take place on the premises of the flight school in Fellering, within walking distance of the practice slope. In addition to the theory room, office and shop, there is also a café that invites you to end the day comfortably with coffee or wine and offers a meeting place for pilots and non-pilots alike.
The aim of the course is to familiarize you with the basics of the sport. The focus is on stress-free and safe flying, not "flying high in record time". Of course, all the flight material is provided by the school: consistently tested, safe equipment with good-natured flight characteristics.
Should the - rare - case occur that due to bad weather conditions, not all of the planned practice hours of a course can be realized, our cooperation partner offers the possibility to make up for the outstanding hours within one year free of charge in other courses until you achieve the L-license.
The training in theory and practice takes place exclusively in German. Unfortunately, people without German language skills cannot take part in the for security reasons.
The advertised excursion fee includes accommodation in shared rooms in the nearby - and idyllic - mountain farm" Ferme Bergenbach", where you have access to a shared kitchen. Pillows and duvets are provided for everyone - bed sheets and bedding are to be brought along. Even if all accommodation is "basically in close proximity" to the flight school / practice area, the use of our arrival car is necessary for the transfer on site. I
